The Library offers free, unlimited access library cards to residents of Chaffee County with proof of residency and identification. The Library offers temporary cards to guests who reside outside of the county. Please visit the Library during open hours to register. Library cards are not required to use public computers, copier or printers, and study rooms.
The Buena Vista Public Library (Northern Chaffee County Library District) has served residents since its inception in 1898. The Library's collection includes books, videos, periodicals, and kits for checkout. As a member of the Marmot Library Consortium, it's catalog includes the collection from 30 Colorado libraries, available for delivery to the Library through the courier system. Additionally, patrons may request items from Prospector. The Library's digital collection includes Libby ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines, Kanopy and Bibliotele streaming, Gale databases, Udemy professional online learning, digital newspapers, and virtual author talks. Library services include tech help, notary, and reference assistance. The facility hosts two meeting room spaces, a group study room, and three small study rooms. The Makerspace hosts a Cricut station, photo booth, audio editing and recording, and high-grade scanning equipment.
