About

The Buena Vista Singletrack Coalition (BVSC) builds, maintains, and stewards nearly 50 miles of multi-use trails throughout northern Chaffee County, Colorado. Guided by its mission to build and steward sustainable trails through community collaboration, BVSC works to enhance outdoor recreation opportunities while protecting the natural landscapes that make the Upper Arkansas Valley a premier destination for hiking, mountain biking, trail running, horseback riding, and outdoor exploration.

Working closely with community partners including the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the United States Forest Service (USFS), BVSC helps plan, design, build, and maintain sustainable trail systems on public lands. Through responsible trail design and construction practices, the organization minimizes environmental impacts, reduces erosion, improves user experiences, and helps preserve natural resources for future generations.

Education is a core component of BVSC's mission. The organization provides resources and outreach focused on trail sustainability, trail etiquette, recreation safety, responsible dog ownership, camping ethics, boating ethics, fire safety, Leave No Trace principles, and environmental stewardship. Through trail signage, educational materials, and community engagement, BVSC promotes responsible recreation and shared use of public lands.

BVSC also engages local residents through volunteer trail work days, social events, stewardship projects, and youth education initiatives. Programs such as Bells for Bikes, Conservation Camps, and Ride Your Bike to School Day encourage outdoor recreation, environmental awareness, bicycle safety, and community involvement. Youth participants gain hands-on experience learning sustainable trail-building techniques, land stewardship principles, and outdoor skills.

The organization serves residents and visitors throughout Buena Vista, Chaffee County, and the Upper Arkansas Valley by supporting sustainable recreation, public land stewardship, outdoor education, volunteer opportunities, trail access, and community connectivity.
