About

Central Colorado Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) is a regional chapter of the national Showing Up for Racial Justice network, an organization dedicated to organizing white people for racial and economic justice. The chapter works to help individuals recognize and address the impacts of white supremacy, dismantle systems of oppression, and build stronger, more inclusive communities through education, organizing, advocacy, and collective action.

Serving communities throughout Central Colorado, including the Buena Vista and Salida area and extending south into the San Luis Valley, Central Colorado SURJ engages community members in ongoing learning, dialogue, and action focused on racial justice, equity, inclusion, and social change. Through educational programming, community organizing, coalition building, and civic engagement efforts, the organization supports individuals and groups seeking to better understand systemic racism and work toward meaningful social transformation.

Central Colorado SURJ emphasizes relationship-building, solidarity, accountability, and community engagement as tools for creating more just and equitable communities. The organization encourages participation from individuals interested in learning, organizing, advocacy, and collective action that advances racial and economic justice throughout the region.

By helping build anti-racist community capacity, supporting local justice initiatives, and fostering community-wide conversations about equity and inclusion, Central Colorado SURJ contributes to a stronger and more connected Central Colorado region.
