About

Services & When They Are Available

Emergency Winter Shelters

  • Operates men’s and women’s shelters during the cold-weather months (typically November through April).
  • Provides a safe, warm place to sleep each night, plus a hot community meal donated by volunteers.
  • For families: when shelters are not appropriate, motel stays are arranged (as resources allow). This includes families with children, individuals with pets, people recovering after hospital stays, and individuals identifying as trans or nonbinary.
  • The program follows a “low-barrier” policy — understanding that homelessness often intersects with trauma, mental health, or addiction. They aim to serve people with dignity, without unnecessary exclusion.

Support & Referrals

  • Chaffee Hospitality helps connect guests with county, state, and local agencies and services that support long-term housing, mental health care, and other wrap-around resources.

Who They Serve / Eligibility & Access

  • Peers experiencing homelessness, including individuals, couples, and families.
  • People of all backgrounds, including those recovering from illness or hospitalization, people with pets, and folks identifying as trans or nonbinary.
  • Priority during cold-weather months (winter), but motel-based help may be available based on need and funding.
  • No prohibitive barriers: program intentionally designed to be low-barrier (accepting people regardless of background, and working sensitively around issues such as mental-health or substance use).

Contact & How to Access Services
