The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) at the Salida Community Center provides nutritious food each month to low-income individuals, families, and seniors across Chaffee County. Guided by a belief that no neighbor should go hungry, the program is powered by dedicated volunteers and strong community partnerships. TEFAP supports over 800 people every month, ensuring reliable access to essential food resources in a welcoming, compassionate environment.

TEFAP Monthly Food Distribution

  • Bulk food distribution for low-income residents, families, and seniors
  • First Thursday of each month
  • Pick-up time: 9:30 am – 12:30 pm

How It Works

  • Distribution occurs the first Thursday of the month, following the first Wednesday
  • Participants receive a selection of staple pantry items, proteins, produce, and shelf-stable goods (varies by month)
  • No cost to participants

  • Households must meet TEFAP income guidelines for low-income eligibility
  • Open to individuals, families, and seniors
  • Bring a form of ID if available (not required for emergency circumstances)
  • New participants can enroll on-site during distribution hours
