Resource Description:
The Center for Independence provides training and advocacy for those with disabilities. Services range from low vision programs, deaf and hard of hearing services to transitional and job training. We were created to be lead by and for people with disabilities. Our federally mandated core services include personal and systems advocacy, information and referral, peer counseling and support, transitional services and independent living skills training. We are also a resource for parents, employers, governmental officials, businesses, and other human service agencies. Programs include:
- Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services
- Low Vision and Blind Services
- Assistive Technology Resource Center
- Vocational Program and Ticket to Work
- Youth Transition Program
- Independent Living Assistance
