We are a team that is comprised of the agencies that respond in a sexual assault and regularly meet to review best practices, cases, and work more cohesively together in addressing sexual assaults, keeping them victim centered and offender focused.
Through this team, we have been able to create a local SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners) program, allowing victims of sexual assault to receive comprehensive services in our community. Additionally, this allows victims 18-69 to report anonymously and have their evidence collected in Chaffee County. Though this has been in law since 2015, it was not until this team was formed that we had a process for implementing the law. |
